That moment I realized my clinch tool was making my life harder

For about 3 years I used the same old clinch tool my mentor handed down, never thought twice about it. Then last month I picked up a new one at a trade show in Kentucky on a whim. First horse I did with it, the clinches laid down so smooth I almost laughed. Has anyone else switched tools and felt like you wasted time with the old one?

Man @robinj29 you nailed it - I used to think my old tool was fine til I tried a different angle.

Did the old one give you those little burrs or sharp edges you'd have to file down? I switched from a beat up hand-me-down to one with a bit more heft and a better angle on the head, and it was night and day. The new tool just rolls the clinch over in one smooth motion instead of having to tap it twice to get it to lay right. Now I fly through hooves way faster (and my farrier buddy actually complimented the finish for once).
