My cousin called my sauerkraut 'science experiment gone wrong' at the family picnic
It was at the big July 4th cookout in their backyard. I brought a jar of my 3-week fermented kraut, and when I opened it, he just made a face and said, 'That smells like a failed science project.' Honestly, it took the wind right out of my sails after all that careful work. Has anyone else had a family member just not get it?

Tell him it's supposed to smell like victory over rot. My uncle still calls my kombucha "pond scum tea," but he'll drink a whole glass if he thinks no one's looking.

My own scoby is basically a science experiment I'm too scared to throw out.

My friend's husband swore he'd never touch her kombucha. Found him finishing the jar in the fridge at 2am, said it was "just checking for mold.
