Am I the only one who's had a floorboard launch itself across the room?
I was installing some laminate in a living room last week. Everything was going fine until I tapped one piece into place. Suddenly, it shot out like a rocket and hit the opposite wall. My client's dog started barking like crazy, thinking it was a game. I had to chase the board down while trying not to laugh. Turns out I didn't cut the tongue right and it was under pressure. Now I always check my cuts twice, no matter how rushed I am. That dog still looks at me like I'm throwing toys for him, lmao.

Honestly that's the universe's way of reminding you that DIY projects have a built-in comedy setting. It's crazy how many things in life, not just flooring, will hold tension quietly until you tap them wrong and they turn into a projectile. Feels like a metaphor for my entire week sometimes. You fix one small thing wrong and spend the next hour chasing the chaos across the room.

Last Thursday I tried to fix a loose tile in my bathroom. I barely touched the grout line and the whole row popped out like dominoes. It's exactly that quiet tension thing, where everything seems fine until you make one wrong move. I spent the next forty minutes finding pieces that shot under the cabinet. My entire month has felt like that, where solving a tiny problem just unlocks a bigger mess. You're right, it's less about fixing things and more about managing the fallout.

Did you read the fine print on that DIY comedy setting warranty?
