Pro tip: I'll take a good old-fashioned scraper over a heat gun for vinyl plank any day

Did a 1200 sq ft tear-out last week and the heat gun just made the adhesive gummy and slow. A sharp 4-inch scraper got under the planks clean, with way less dust and no burnt glue smell. Anyone got a better scraper brand than the basic hardware store ones?

Totally agree with Luna. Seen that gummy mess before, makes you want to just walk away. You gotta read the glue like a mood, some days it's brittle and some days it's just sticky.

Honestly, calling it a "pro tip" feels a bit much for a scraper preference. It's just a tool that worked for your specific job with that specific glue. I've had the heat gun work fine on other brands where the adhesive was more brittle. Sometimes the right tool just depends on what you're stuck with that day.

Stuck with that day" is the real pro tip here.
