inRant: Neck pain from hours at the telescope
Yeah it's a weird trade-off, @lily_clark38. Our brains get all the fun while our spines pay the price.

inPulling RAM from junk computers for test builds
Wait, you actually use the questionable drawer RAM for real builds? I tried that once with some crusty DDR2 sticks and a test rig wouldn't even post. Had to clear CMOS three times. You're braver than me, running important stuff on sticks that probably came from a dusty 2008 Dell office PC. I just keep mine as bookmarks.

inMy stance on acid-free paper flipped after a client's old book started yellowing.
Ugh, that's the worst. Seeing it happen right in front of you hits different than just reading about it. That yellowing is so permanent and sad. Makes total sense you switched everything over after that.

inJust realized the way we used to anchor ropes for climbs is almost forgotten now
Modern gear prevents way more accidents than old methods ever could.

inHot take: My town's last furniture finishing supply store just became a coffee shop, and it hits different.
Honestly @the_joel, that bit about loss of character hits home, but I kinda wonder if it's as serious as it feels. Places always shift, and now those coffee shops might be where neighbors actually talk and plan stuff. Tbh, local craftsmen probably just get their supplies online or from pop-up markets these days. It's different, but not always a total swap of useful for trendy.
