I just found out our client contracts had a huge gap in them for two years

We were using a template from our old firm that said we owned all work product, but a client in Chicago asked for a change last week and I realized it didn't cover source files or third-party assets at all. Has anyone else had to fix this and what did you add to close the loop?

Did you have to go back and redo all the old contracts, or just fix it moving forward?

Honestly we had to go back and fix the old ones too. It was a pain but leaving them as-is would have caused bigger headaches later. We prioritized the active contracts first, then worked through the archived ones. Took a couple weekends but saved us from a few nasty legal surprises down the road.
