inI just hit 500 bouquets sold using only local, seasonal flowers, and I'm starting to think the 'exotic import' model is a bit overrated.
My aunt tried to do the whole fancy import thing for her cafe, bringing in special berries from far away. It just made everything cost more and the fruit would go bad so fast. She switched to a local farm and never looked back. It reminds me of what lopez.simon said about waste and fuel, those hidden costs really add up. People started asking about the farm by name, just like your flower customers. There's something about knowing where it comes from that changes how you see it.

inJust got back from a pop-up in Austin and the plating was all about negative space
Kitchens use plating templates to keep up, @aaron884.

inMy friend bet me I couldn't make a dress out of a shower curtain in a weekend
That denim couch cover story reminds me of my buddy's duct tape wallet phase.

inUpdate on that 'wrong' way to set a miter saw fence
Man, that's a tough lesson to learn. I saw a video once where a guy proved even a brand new, expensive saw can have the fence drift out of square with the miter slots over time. So now I check both with a square before any big project. That old advice probably worked on the simpler tools they had back in the day.

inPSA: My neighbor's kid asked me why my main character always wins and it stopped me cold.
My buddy writes comics and his nephew asked why the hero never gets hurt bad. He started adding real stakes the next week, and says his fights feel honest now. Kids cut right to the heart of things sometimes.
