I thought the whole 'AI writing a brand apology' thing was just a joke until I saw it happen
For months, people online were joking about brands using ChatGPT to write their apology statements. I figured it was just a meme, that no real PR team would be that lazy. Then last week, a local brewery in my city got called out for a weird, tone-deaf tweet. Their apology post that followed was a 300-word mess that used phrases like 'we endeavor to facilitate a more comprehensive understanding' and 'we acknowledge the dynamic sentiment.' It read like a robot trying to sound human. I checked it with a basic AI detector tool, and it came back 94% likely to be AI-generated. That convinced me. They didn't even bother to have a real person write it. Has anyone else seen an apology so obviously written by AI that it made the whole situation worse?

Our small cafe's handwritten apology note last month actually got us more customers.

The handwritten apology note actually got us more customers" is such a flex, honestly. Reminds me of when my buddy's taco truck left a typo on a sign that said "free sour creme" and people kept coming back just to laugh at it.

What was the original tweet from the brewery that caused the problem? I feel like the bad AI apology is one thing, but sometimes the original mess is so wild that any response would fail.
