My go-to hostel booking site crashed midnight before my flight to Barcelona

I was literally printing my boarding pass when the site went down with my reservation still pending. Had to scramble and find a last minute room at a random pension near the Gothic Quarter for 45 euros. Has anyone else had a booking platform fail right when you needed it most?

i saw a travel blogger talk about this exact thing a few weeks ago... apparently it happens way more often than people realize with those third party booking sites. they said the sites get overloaded right before major holidays or long weekends because everyone's booking last minute. my buddy had something similar happen with a hostel in rome, he ended up having to sleep at the train station for a few hours until a place opened up. the pension you found sounds like a decent deal though, 45 euros in the Gothic Quarter is pretty good for last minute panic booking.

ughhh that's literally my worst nightmare lmao. the exact same thing happened to me last summer with a hostel in lisbon, site crashed while i was mid payment and i had no confirmation. ended up calling like 10 different places from the airport and finally found a room at some sketchy place for way too much money. the pension you snagged for 45 euros sounds like a steal tbh, way better than sleeping at the station like that other person's friend had to do. it's crazy how these sites always seem to crap out at the worst possible moment, not like a random tuesday afternoon.

Man that's rough but honestly it seems like these sites crash right when you need them most. You think they'd have better servers for peak travel times but nope. At least you scored a decent price in the Gothic Quarter, that's way better than sleeping in a train station.
