Just realized I saved $230 on haircuts this year by doing it myself
I started cutting my own hair back in January after getting tired of paying $35 every three weeks at the barber shop near my place in Portland. Watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials first, bought a $40 clipper set from Walmart, and honestly my first few cuts were rough. But after about 6 months I got the hang of it, and now my cuts look pretty decent actually. I did the math last night and I've saved $230 so far this year, which blew my mind because that's like a car payment or two nice dinners out. The best part is I don't have to schedule appointments or wait around anymore, I just do it in my bathroom on a Sunday morning. Has anyone else tried cutting their own hair and tracked the savings? I'm curious if it adds up for other people too.

Read somewhere that the average person spends over $1,000 a year on haircuts alone. That's a lot of cash for something you can learn to do yourself. Little bit of practice and you're golden.

Oh man, I feel this. My first attempt at trimming my own hair ended with me wearing a beanie for like two weeks straight until it grew out enough to fix.
