Finally caved and picked "algorithm friendly" over "what I actually wanted to post"
Been on the fence for weeks about whether to post that deep dive on local pollinator plants or just do another easy before/after lawn shot. The deep dive is what I really care about, you know? But every time I post something with a lot of text or niche info, it gets like 12 likes. Meanwhile my buddy posts a 10 second video of him edging a sidewalk and it hits 5k views. So yesterday I tried the algorithm friendly route - short video, trendy audio, hashtags I hate using. Got 800 views in 3 hours. Part of me feels dirty but part of me is like... I got new clients from it? Has anyone else had to choose between their actual content and what the algorithm wants?

@lucashart nailed it with the QR code menu thing - that's exactly where we're headed. Did you notice any difference in the type of clients the algorithm friendly post brought in?

Oh man, I literally just read something about this in a creator newsletter. Apparently the algorithm favors video content so hard that even text posts with a screenshot get throttled these days.

nah and the worst part is its bleeding into real life too. @chen.casey this is totally on point. i feel like everywhere i go now people are trying to sell me something or get me to watch some video before i can get basic info. went to a coffee shop last week and the menu was a qr code that led to a 30 second reel instead of just listing prices. like what happened to just reading a damn sign? algorithms trained us to think everything needs to be flashy or it doesn't exist but honestly sometimes i just want the plain text version without the song and dance. makes you wonder when the last time someone actually read a full article start to finish without scrolling past it for a tiktok.
