That's a common practice for specialty roasters.

I see it differently though, @finley729... a lot of the smaller shops near me don't do that at all.

Yeah, totally see what you're saying. The good roaster in my town always puts the roast date right on the bag, front and center. It makes a huge difference knowing how fresh it is. I've bought from places that don't do that and the coffee just tastes... flat, you know? It feels like they're hiding something. That little date stamp builds a lot of trust for me.
