Unpopular opinion: Cafe snobs actually helped me drink better coffee

I used to roll my eyes at the baristas at Brew Haus in Austin explaining water temperature. Then one guy showed me how my cheap grinder was making everything taste burnt. Finally tried their recommended grind setting and my morning cup actually stopped tasting like ash. Anyone else cave to the pretentious coffee advice and find it actually worked?

Wait, you used to think grinders were just a gimmick too? I was totally on that side until I borrowed a buddy's and saw what it did to my morning routine.

Holly, did you end up trying a grinder yourself after hearing that, or are you still on the fence about it? I'm curious if the routine change was as big for you as it was for some other people. What kind of setup are you running now?
