Appreciation post: My fancy kitchen faucet gave up after 8 months

I insisted on a specific high-end pull-down faucet for my new build in Austin, and the cartridge completely failed this morning, leaving me with a steady drip. I had to shut off the water under the sink and now I'm waiting on a warranty part. Has anyone else had a brand new fixture fail this fast, and what did you do?

Actually, hard water doesn't usually kill a cartridge that fast. More likely it was just a bad part from the factory.

Honestly evan_burns95 has a point about simple being better sometimes. All those extra parts in a fancy faucet are just more things that can break. Tbh it feels like a lot of high-end stuff is built for looks now, not to actually last. Makes you wonder if the basic one is just built tougher because it has fewer moving pieces to fail.

My buddy's fancy touchless faucet died after two years and flooded his kitchen. The repair guy said the sensor board failed, which never happens on a basic valve. Sometimes extra tech just adds more expensive ways to break.

Honestly that's why I never trust the fancy stuff right out of the box. My last place had a basic builder-grade faucet that lasted ten years without a single issue. Sometimes simple is just better.

Did you check if the hard water here in Austin might have gunked up the cartridge faster than expected?
