I used to export my art as PNGs for everything, but switching to WebP for my online portfolio cut my page load time in half.

Dianal94 has a point, but the real test is getting your whole team to agree on the switch. You have to convince the person who still saves everything as a BMP. The file size difference is no joke though, it's like going from a suitcase to a wallet. My only regret is not trying it sooner just to avoid those meetings. The load time drop is the best part, makes all the fuss worth it.

WebP has compatibility issues that can be a real headache. Some older browsers and even some image editing programs still don't handle it well, so you end up having to keep PNG versions around anyway. The load time improvement is nice, but it's not worth the extra hassle of managing two formats or dealing with random display errors on certain devices.
