My digital painting crashed right before I saved it last night

I was working on a portrait for about 3 hours, really happy with the skin tones and shading. Then my tablet driver just glitched out and the whole program froze up. I lost about 45 minutes of work because I got too comfortable and skipped hitting save. Has anyone else had Procreate just lock up on them mid stroke?

Same thing happened to me back in 2015 with an oil painting that took all afternoon.

I heard somewhere that Procreate's autosave is actually pretty good but it only kicks in if the app fully crashes, not when it freezes up. That got me curious so I looked it up and found out you can set a timer in the gestures controls to remind you to save every few minutes. That's helped me a ton since I read about it and stopped losing so much work to random glitches.

@bettywood honestly that reminds me of when I forgot to save a huge drawing and my cat walked across my iPad and closed the app.
