I tried to find the original source for a photo that went viral about a 'government test site'.

Metadata is a great tip. I've also had luck checking for brand logos or product labels that weren't out yet when the photo was supposedly taken. It can really pin down the earliest possible date.

Bought a cheap clipper set online, lost $80 and a client

Remember when "professional" meant it was built for a job site and not a kitchen drawer? Now it's just a sticker they put on the box to charge you ten bucks more. I've bought so called pro tools that broke the first time I used them. At this point, I trust a beat up old brand name I find at a garage sale more than a shiny new "professional" thing in a store. The word is totally ruined.

Just realized my old way of prepping for interviews was all wrong

Memorizing scripts was my go-to move too... right up until an interviewer asked me to explain a database join like I was talking to my grandma. I just stared at my own hands for a full ten seconds. Now I practice explaining my work to my cat. He looks pretty bored, but at least I don't completely short circuit anymore.

My GPS took me to a street that wasn't there, and now I always check the map.

Was it just a glitch, or did it feel like you slipped into a different version of your town for a minute? That's the creepy part, when the map is so sure of itself while you're looking at proof it's wrong. I've had that happen where it insisted a gas station was a library, and it makes you doubt everything the phone says after that. It's smart to check the real world signs now, because that blue dot is just a guess (a usually good guess, but still). Those little errors totally break the trust, and you can't just blindly follow directions anymore.

Pro tip: my wife asked me why I was painting the whole room when I only needed to fix one spot

Oh man, that is the most RELATABLE thing ever. My whole garage is a museum of half-finished projects where I decided to rebuild the entire thing instead of just tightening one screw. Last month I needed a new shelf bracket and almost built a whole new workbench. The struggle is SO real.
