Last week, a singer with 20 million followers posted a clapback at a commenter, calling their profile pic 'basic'. Turned out the commenter was a 14 year old kid who just lost their mom. The singer deleted the tweet after 3 hours, but the screenshots are everywhere. How do these people not have someone checking this stuff before they hit post?

I almost quit coding because I couldn't pick between Python and JavaScript

I spent a solid month just reading about which one to start with, stuck between Python for its simple syntax and JavaScript for web stuff. I finally chose Python after a teacher in a free online course said it was better for learning the basics, and I built my first little text game in about two weeks. It was way less scary than I thought once I just picked one and started. How did you decide on your first language?

A bride in Charleston asked for a half-up style with her grandmother's clip, and it taught me a new securing method.

I was pinning it the usual way, but she showed me how her grandma would twist a small section of hair around the clip's hinge to lock it in place. Anyone have other tricks for securing sentimental pieces without damaging them?

I found a live hamster in a dryer I was fixing last month

Got a call for a noisy dryer in a house in Springfield. When I pulled the drum out, a little brown hamster was just sitting on the blower wheel, looking at me. The owner's kid said it went missing 'a few days ago'. The hamster was fine, just a bit dusty. I had to clean out a whole nest of bedding and food from inside the cabinet before I could even check the bearings. Anyone else had an animal turn up in an appliance?

I spent a whole day trying to break down a whole beef shoulder clod the 'right' way

Honestly, I thought I knew my way around a primal cut. This massive shoulder clod came in from a local farm, and I decided to follow this detailed breakdown guide from a big industry magazine. They had all these perfect, clean separations for flat iron, petite tender, and teres major. Ngl, it was a nightmare. The muscle seams on this specific animal were nothing like the pictures. I must have spent 3 hours just trying to find the right angle to free the flat iron without mangling it. My knife kept hitting gristle and weird connective tissue that wasn't in the diagram. What should have been a 90-minute job turned into a full 8-hour shift of careful picking and frustration. I ended up with the muscles, but the yield was way off and I felt like I wasted a ton of time. Has anyone else had a breakdown guide completely fail them on a real, non-textbook piece of meat?

A chat with a mechanic in Austin made me reconsider my cold air intake

I was at a shop getting some tires put on my 2018 5.0, and the guy working on it pointed out my intake setup. He said, 'You know, that open-element filter is probably pulling in more hot engine air than cool air from the fender, especially sitting in traffic.'
