inWarning: A client in Denver refused to pay after I sent the final files
My cousin runs a small landscaping business and had a client who just stopped paying after the third service. He sent one polite invoice, then a second one with a clear 72 hour notice before he'd file a lien. The check showed up the next morning. Sometimes you just have to show you're serious, but it's crazy it has to get to that point.

inUnpopular opinion: I still torque my own wheel nuts after seeing a shop in Phoenix skip the final check
Yeah, it's wild. Honestly, the best move is to get everything in writing, even for small jobs. A quick text or email confirming the price and scope saves so many headaches later.

inShoutout to the wireless tester I thought was pointless
No way, that's wild. So the tester actually pointed you right at the wall? What kind was it, just a basic RF detector? Always wondered if those cheap ones are any good for finding hidden junk like that.

inTIL a simple rack for cooling multiple cakes at once.
Read an article about this once. Said quick cooling forms a crust that traps steam inside, actually keeping things moist. Counterintuitive, huh?

inI used to skip oil to save cash, but a kitchen mess proved me wrong
Read an article where a chef said oil is basically a heat conductor, not just for non-stick. That cheap vegetable oil is a tool to cook food evenly and safely. Your burnt pan is proof. Trying to dry fry stuff can make the outside burn before the inside even cooks. It's a basic step for a reason. Saving a few cents isn't worth ruining a whole meal or starting a fire. Just get the cheap stuff but always use some.
